Buyers browse car listings the way they browse anything else online: quickly, comparing thumbnails. A lot where every car is photographed in a different spot, with different backgrounds and lighting, looks less trustworthy than one with a consistent look — even if the cars are better.
You don't need a turntable studio to fix that.
Shooting tips
- Same spot, same time of day. Pick a clear area of the lot and shoot there every time. Overcast days give the most even light.
- Same angles for every car. Front three-quarter, side, rear three-quarter, interior. Mark where to stand with tape.
- Shoot from about headlight height. Higher looks like a security camera; lower looks dramatic but distorts.
- Clear the frame. No other cars overlapping the edges of the one you're photographing.
- Clean the car. Reflections of a cluttered lot show up on glossy paint.
Removing the background
Upload the photos to our image background remover. Cars are well-defined objects with hard edges, so they cut out cleanly. Windows are the tricky part — you'll see through them to the old background. For listing photos that's usually fine and looks natural; for hero shots you may prefer a scene that doesn't distract through the glass.
Choosing a background
- Light grey or white gradient — clean, neutral, works on every listing site
- Branded backdrop — your logo wall or a branded colour for consistency
- Showroom image — upload a photo of your showroom and use it behind every car
Add a soft shadow under the car in your design tool so it doesn't float.

FAQ
Do I need to process every photo?
The main exterior shots benefit most. Interior photos usually look better with their real background.
Can I add our logo to every image?
Add it in your listing template or design tool after removing the backgrounds.
